Alte Ratsbadestube “Old Council Bathhouse”

A house with history – and with steam!

At first glance, Schuhstraße 27 looks like just another half-timbered building – but for over two centuries, this was Celle’s official council bathhouse and home to the town’s bath attendants. 

Hidden in its carved woodwork and reused building elements are traces of a much older story, dating back to the early 16th century.
